Do NOT touch your face. The bacteria from your hands travels to your skin...
DO:
Wear sunscreen- its the best handy protection against aging.
Eat veggies.
Keep your skin clean- wash with a gently cleaser. Scrub your face weekly- gently. wash at night to let your skin breathe. and wash your face in the morning to wash away all toxin build up that occurs as your skin renews while you sleep :)
Drink water- keep yourself hydrated. whats good for the system is good for the skin.

A hairy affair
A hairy affair: how to combat gray hair (prevention works, cure..doubtable) , dandruff, and hair loss.
Dealing with hair loss
Hair growth is affected by the hormonal system. It is normal to lose around 100 hairs each day, which are replaced within days. However, as we age, our hormone levels fluctuate and start to decline. This reduces the stimulus to the hair follicles and results in hair loss.
Here are some ways to tackle hair loss:
Ginger juice: Massage your scalp with fresh ginger juice. Squeeze a 1-inch chunk of ginger. Rub the fresh ginger juice into affected part of scalp. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse it out--or leave it on overnight to stimulate the hair follicles.
Stimulate blood flow. Try the following massage exercise: It helps stimulate blood circulation.
Using the tips of all 10 fingers, gently tap the head all over, stimulating the scalp for about one minute.
Begin with light force and gently increase to moderate strength.
Then massage the scalp with both hands for 2 minutes, gently at first and then more vigorously taking care not to pull out hair.
Straighten the fingers of your right hand, and with the palm side of fingers gently tap all over the scalp 36 times.
Repeat with your left hand, another 36 times. To get the best results, do this exercise twice a day.
Dandruff:
Dandruff can get aggravated due to hormonal imbalances, stress, and improper diet. Dandruff is at its worst during winter and fall, when the air tends to be dry.
Try these:
Apply aloe gel. You can get better results by leaving the aloe on overnight and rinsing it out in your morning shower.
A baking soda head scrub. In the shower, wet your hands and scrub baking soda vigorously into your scalp. After rinsing it out, massage Tonic Oil- a combination of essential oils and avocado oil.
To combat gray hair we recommend: If you have a history of gray hair in your family its advisable to try these remedies early on. In rare cases gray hair do change colour....rare but not impossible.
Additions in diet: Black sesame seeds, black beans, and walnuts to prevent (in some cases to prevent graying). For healthy and shiny hair, eat foods rich in essential fatty acids and omega-rich nutrients: flaxseed oil, sesame oil, olive oil, virgin coconut oil, avocado, beans, nuts and seeds.

Dry, stretched feel after a bath.
If you are taking a bucket bath-
why avocado oil- well its gentle, non greasy, and light oil. it wont clog the pores (pores are relaxed and moderately open after a warm bath)
Alternatively try almond oil. Its more expensive but really great. Among the best one available is Rogan Badaam Shreen- almond oil.
PS:I am personally not a big fan of olive oil because the olive oil being imported in india is invariably not cold pressed, and is generally the last extract of the olive pod, meaning its not the purest form. Its infact worse than the local vegetable oils that is freely available in the market. If you are getting it from abroad (US, UK) then go ahead use virgin oil.
- add two teaspoons of avocado oil to the bath water.
- avoid, avoid HOT water bath. keep it tepid and comfortably warm.
- make the bath aromatic with 10 teaspoons of lavender essential oil. lavender oil is a curative oil and also has rejuvenative properties
- as a final rinse add one teaspoon of avocado oil to a mug of warm water and splash over
- rest same as above
- you could also add essential oils to your shower body shampoo

Secret recipes
A project came to close this past week. It was a long, arduous collaboration with multiple people and teams spread across... The project was to dive down into traditional skin care...collecting the data across different segments from an era goneby.
Ambitious? very.
Impossible? thats what MY TEAM SAID
Not worth it? yeah, so everyone said.
well we did it anyway!!
SO, The big project came to close this past week with us sifting out some great recipes, traditional recipes for skin and hair care. these recipes go back atleast 50 years and were being used by grooming maids for the royalty from Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh!
I am at an absolute high. the following month is giong to be spent testing these, tailoring them to fit us today (ingredients like turmeric need to be tweeked or else TBMS clients will stand apart wtih thier jaundiced looks! ) and most difficult, procuring the ingredients! we have ingredients from mulathi to reethaa to gulaab patti- and thats not just any rose. its a rose grown from a particular traditional india variety-- deep pink and thin petals....well!? I AM EXCITED!
MORE SHORTLY ":)

catching up
Been offline for the blog for sometime...there is so much to do and so much to prioritise. Everytime i want to share the latest feed from TBMS i postpone it to the next day off and that day comes and goes...and then its the next off day and that too comes and goes....ah! the days are for sure short. there just isnt enough time to accomplish it all.
TBMS has taken a life of its own now. Its an entity and i serve it to the best of my ability. Its like this genius organism thats growing at its own pace and i am there the nurturer. Its an amazing experience.
And there is a great team of ladies with me, young, full of enthusiasm to be at the helm of a change. Its a pleasure and an honor to be leading a team this dedicated.
the past week has been highlighted with a deluge of spa parties, hens night, and spa camps. These are pretty new in terms of offerings in the indian market....so feels darn good to be leading this camp.
Thanks to the fabulous article done by Amrita on the Mobile story, Time out (bangalore) we had a marker moment. Thanks Amrita.
I intend to keep this blog regularly updated and posted.... after all TBMS is out there for everyone. And everyone wants to know behind the scenes story of anything thats as special as TBMS is :).
